This event is all about the comparison and testing of e-bikes, e-mountain bikes and speed pedelecs. Visitors make thousands of test rides during each edition on large indoor bicycle test tracks. More than 40 e-bike brands take part in the E-bike Challenge.
On the 18th and 19th of February 2017, the first edition of E-bike Challenge took place in Flanders Expo in Ghent (Belgium), under the banner of ‘Hicle Outdoor’, together with “Fiets en Wandelbeurs” (Hike & Bike Experience) and Mount Expo. Nowadays the Challenge always takes place together with the “Fiets en Wandelbeurs” and has about 15,000 visitors each year.

In 2024, the first edition of the E-bike Challenge the Netherlands was held in the Jaarbeurs venue in Utrecht. It was an instant success. 24,000 people visited this event in combination with the “Fiets en Wandelbeurs” in the Netherlands.
The E-bike Challenge test event in the USA has been held at the Minneapolis Convention Center in 2019 and 2022.
Visitors can try out a wide range of well-known brands of electric bicycles, speed pedelecs and e-mountain bikes on large and challenging indoor test tracks. Exhibitors and experts will be there to answer any questions. Also, lectures and workshops inform visitors about the ins and outs of e-biking.
Visitors of E-bike Challenge are a 100% target group. They come to the ‘Challenge’ because they orientate themselves on the purchase of an e-bike. The event offers bicycle brands an ideal opportunity to reach the right audience.
The stands of the exhibitors directly adjoin the bicycle test track (e-bike, e-mountain bike and speed pedelec) so visitors can get information about the models and immediately try out one or several e-bikes.

Combined with the Fiets en Wandelbeurs (Hike & Bike Experience), the E-bike Challenge attracts between 35,000 and 40,000 visitors across its Utrecht and Ghent editions.
Previous editions of the E-bike Challenge have featured leading brands including Gazelle, Trek, Specialized, Riese & Müller, Kalkhoff, Flyer, Cube, Brompton, BZEN, Ca Go, Ellio and Reany Bikes. In total, visitors can compare and test ride e-bikes from more than 30 e-bike brands.
The event provides exhibitors with direct access to consumers who are actively considering the purchase of an e-bike. Many visitors are in the research and comparison phase of the buying journey and attend the event to test ride different models before making a purchase decision.
The E-bike Challenge is a dedicated consumer test event focused on helping visitors find and experience the right e-bike through extensive test rides and direct comparison of brands and models. Unlike a traditional bike show, where products are primarily displayed in exhibition stands, the E-bike Challenge places a strong emphasis on hands-on testing. Visitors can ride and compare a wide range of e-bikes on dedicated test tracks before making a purchase decision.
Another key difference is its combination with the Fiets en Wandelbeurs (Hike & Bike Experience), a complementary event that attracts visitors with a strong interest in cycling, outdoor recreation and active mobility. Many of these visitors are also potential e-bike buyers.
Visitors of the E-bike Challenge are primarily consumers who are considering the purchase of an e-bike, speed pedelec or cargo bike. Many are actively comparing brands and models before making a buying decision. The event attracts recreational cyclists, commuters, outdoor enthusiasts and existing e-bike owners looking to upgrade their bicycle.
